Hi, My name is Steve Metzner and I have been in the ceramic tile business for the last 40 years. I have also been a wildlife and nature photographer for about 15 years. With the help of some exciting new technology I have been able to combine my two areas of expertise to bring you beautiful and breathtaking Images On Tile.
With general care and maintenance, one can expect an extended life of quality, clarity and color from our tile products. Because the tiles are organic in nature, they do not contain metallic or toxic qualities. All tiles are put through ASTM standards (American Standard Testing Method) which typical glazed and unglazed tiles are subject to for use in decorative applications. After testing the physical characteristics of our tiles, the results show that they are conductive to environments such as moisture, common household acids and stains. The added UV inhibitors also allow for the use of tile near windows which are exposed to sunlight. Our tiles contain a Sublitech coating. Sublitech's main objective was to develop a coating process for ceramic products that could consistently deliver the best sublimated color images possible. To attain this goal, they took a long look at the three most important aspects of the process, namely the surface coating, the inks, and the digitally processed images. Phase one of the program was the application of coating suitable for sublimating images onto ceramic products. Feedback from the industry has proven that it is clearly the best ceramic sublimation coating available. The coating will accept the sublimated image, and maintain it's brilliant colors, without the usual fading associated with other coated ceramic products currently on the market. The coating was specially engineered to work with the best sublimation inks available. By including the benefits of special UV inhibitors, this coating takes on the properties of a live chemical coat. This live coat enables the Sublitech products to remain stronger, more durable and inspires the sublimated image to maintain an elephant-like memory for color. This helps ensure that the important colors won't fade away like an old memory. Because consistency is essential to attaining optimum coating performance, Sublitech maintains an extensive test laboratory for all of their coatings. Prior to its use, and as an ongoing precaution, their coating materials, in conjunction with ceramic products, are continually evaluated for such things as thermal-shock, high-humidity exposure, scratch and chemical resistance, as well as UV fading and long-term aging. This is why Images on Tile uses such a fine product. |
